Luke chapter 1
Lu 1:1-4. The preface of Luke to his whole gospel.
Lu 1:5-25. The conception of John the Baptist;

Lu 2:1-5. Augustus taxes all the Roman empire.

Lu 3:23-38. The age and genealogy of Christ from Joseph upwards.
Luke chapter 4
Lu 4:1-13. The temptation and fasting of Christ.
Lu 4:14-15. He begins to preach.
Lu 4:16-32. The people of Nazareth admire his gracious words, but being offended, seek to kill him.
Lu 4:33-37. He cures one possessed of a devil,
Lu 4:38-39. Peter’s mother-in-law,
Lu 4:40. and divers other sick persons.
Lu 4:41. The devils acknowledge Christ, and are reproved for it.
Lu 4:42-44. He preaches through the cities of Galilee.
Luke chapter 5
Lu 5:1-3. Christ teaches the people out of Peter’s ship;
Lu 5:4-11. in a miraculous taking of fishes, shows how he will make him and his partners fishers of men;
Lu 5:12-15. cleanses the leper;
Lu 5:16. prays in the wilderness;
Lu 5:17-26. heals one sick of the palsy;
Lu 5:27-28. calls Matthew the Publican;
Lu 5:29-32. eats with sinners, as being the physician of souls;
Lu 5:33-35. foretells the fastings and afflictions of the apostles after his ascension;
Lu 5:36-39. and illustrates the matter by the parable of old bottles and worn garments.
Luke chapter 6
Lu 6:1-11. Christ reproves the Pharisees;
Lu 6:12-16. chooses apostles;
Lu 6:17-19. heals the diseased;
Lu 6:20-49. preaches to his disciples before the people.
Luke chapter 7
Lu 7:1-9. Christ finds a greater faith in the centurion, a Gentile than in any of the Jews;
Lu 7:10. heals his servant, being absent;
Lu 7:11-17. raises from death the widow’s son at Nain;
Lu 7:18-23. answers John’s messengers with the declaration of his miracles;
Lu 7:24-30. testifies to the people what opinion he held of John;
Lu 7:31-35. inveighs against the Jews, who with neither the manners of John nor of Jesus could be won;
Lu 7:36-50. and suffering his feet to be washed and anointed by a woman who was a sinner, he shows how he is a friend to sinners, to forgive them their sins, upon their repentance.
Luke chapter 8
Lu 8:1-3. Women minister unto Christ of their substance.
Lu 8:4-15. Christ, after he had preached from place to place, attended by his apostles, propounds the parable of the sower,
Lu 8:16-18. and the candle;
Lu 8:19-21. declares who are his mother, and brethren;
Lu 8:22-25. rebukes the winds;
Lu 8:26-36. casts the legion of devils out of the man into the herd of swine;
Lu 8:37-42. is rejected of the Gadarenes,;
Lu 8:43-48. heals the woman of her bloody issue;
Lu 8:49-56. and raises from death Jairus’s daughter.
Luke chapter 9
Lu 9:1-6. Christ sends his apostles to work miracles, and to preach.
Lu 9:7-9. Herod desires to see Christ.
Lu 9:10-11. The apostles return.
Lu 9:12-17. Christ feeds five thousand;
Lu 9:18-22. enquires what opinion the world had of him; foretells his passion;
Lu 9:23-27. proposes to all the pattern of his patience.
Lu 9:28-36. The transfiguration.
Lu 9:37-42. He heals the lunatic;
Lu 9:43-45. again forewarns his disciples of his passion;
Lu 9:46-50. commends humility;
Lu 9:51-56. bids them to shew mildness towards all, without desire of revenge.
Lu 9:57-62. Divers would follow him, but upon conditions.
Luke chapter 10
Lu 10:1-12. Christ sends out at once seventy disciples to work miracles, and to preach;
Lu 10:13-16. pronounces a woe against certain cities.
Lu 10:17-22. The seventy return with joy; he shows them wherein to rejoice, and thanks his Father for his grace;
Lu 10:23-24. magnifies the happy estate of his church;
Lu 10:25-37. teaches the lawyer how to attain eternal life, and to take every one for his neighbour that needs his mercy;
Lu 10:38-42. reprehends Martha, and commends Mary her sister.
Luke chapter 11
Lu 11:1-10. Christ teaches us to pray, and that instantly;
Lu 11:11-13. assuring us that God will give all good things to them that ask him.
Lu 11:14-26. He, casting out a dumb devil, rebukes the blasphemous Pharisees;
Lu 11:27-28. and shows who are blessed;
Lu 11:29-36. preaches to the people;
Lu 11:37-54. and reprehends the outward shew of holiness in the Pharisees, scribes, and lawyers.
Luke chapter 12
Lu 12:1-12. Christ preaches to his apostles to avoid hypocrisy, and fearfulness in publishing his doctrine;
Lu 12:13-21. warns the people to beware of covetousness, by the parable of the rich man who set up greater barns.
Lu 12:22-30. We must not be over careful of earthly things,
Lu 12:31-32. but seek the kingdom of God;
Lu 12:33-34. give alms;
Lu 12:35-40. be ready at a knock to open to our Lord whensoever he comes.
Lu 12:41-48. Christ’s ministers are to see to their charges,
Lu 12:49-53. and look for persecution.
Lu 12:54-56. The people must take this time of grace;
Lu 12:57-59. because it is a fearful thing to die without reconciliation.
Luke chapter 13
Lu 13:1-5. Christ preaches repentance upon the punishment of the Galilaeans and others.
Lu 13:6-9. The fruitless fig-tree may not stand.
Lu 13:10-17. He heals the crooked woman;
Lu 13:18-21. shows the powerful working of the word in the hearts of his chosen, by the parable of the grain of mustard seed, and of leaven;
Lu 13:22-30. exhorts to enter in at the strait gate;
Lu 13:31-35. and reproves Herod and Jerusalem.
Luke chapter 14
Lu 14:1-6. Christ heals the dropsy on the sabbath;
Lu 14:7-11. teaches humility;
Lu 14:12-14. to feast the poor;
Lu 14:15-24. under the parable of the great supper, shows how worldly minded men, who contemn the word of God, shall be shut out of heaven.
Lu 14:25-33. Those who will be his disciples, to bear their cross must make their accounts beforehand, lest with shame they revolt from him afterward;
Lu 14:34-35. and become altogether unprofitable, like salt that has lost its savour.
Luke chapter 15
Lu 15:1-7. The parable of the lost sheep;
Lu 15:8-10. of the piece of silver;
Lu 15:11-32. of the prodigal son.
Luke chapter 16
Lu 16:1-13. The parable of the unjust steward.
Lu 16:14-18. Christ reproves the hypocrisy of the covetous Pharisees.
Lu 16:19-31. The parable of the rich man and Lazarus the beggar.
Luke chapter 17
Lu 17:1-2. Christ teaches to avoid occasions of offence;
Lu 17:3-4. and to forgive one another.
Lu 17:5. The power of faith.
Lu 17:6-10. How we are bound to God, and not he to us.
Lu 17:11-21. Christ heals ten lepers.
Lu 17:22-37. Of the kingdom of God, and the coming of the Son of Man.
Luke chapter 18
Lu 18:1-8. Of the importunate widow.
Lu 18:9-14. Of the Pharisee and the publican.
Lu 18:15-17. Of Children brought to Christ.
Lu 18:18-27. A ruler would follow Christ, but is hindered by his riches.
Lu 18:28-30. The reward of them that leave all for his sake.
Lu 18:31-34. He foretells his death;
Lu 18:35-43. and restores a blind man to his sight.
Luke chapter 19
Lu 19:1-10. Of Zacchaeus a publican.
Lu 19:11-27. The ten pieces of money.
Lu 19:28-40. Christ rides into Jerusalem with triumph;
Lu 19:41-44. weeps over it;
Lu 19:45-46. drives the buyers and sellers out of the temple;
Lu 19:47-48. teaching daily in it. The rulers seek to destroy him, but fear the people.
Luke chapter 20
Lu 20:1-8. Christ avouches his authority by a question of John’s baptism.
Lu 20:9-18. The parable of the vineyard.
Lu 20:19-26. Of giving tribute to Caesar.
Lu 20:27-40. He convinces the Sadducees, that denied the resurrection.
Lu 20:41-44. How Christ is the Son of David.
Lu 20:45-47. He warns his disciples to beware of the scribes.
Luke chapter 21
Lu 21:1-4. Christ commends the poor widow.
Lu 21:5-24. He foretells the destruction of the temple, and of the city Jerusalem;
Lu 21:25-33. the signs also which shall be before the last day.
Lu 21:34-38. He exhorts them to be watchful.
Luke chapter 22
Lu 22:1-2. The Jews conspire against Christ.
Lu 22:3-6. Satan prepares Judas to betray him.
Lu 22:7-18. The apostles prepare the passover.
Lu 22:19-20. Christ institutes his holy supper;
Lu 22:21-23. covertly foretells of the traitor;
Lu 22:24-30. rebukes the rest of his apostles from ambition;
Lu 22:31-33. assures Peter his faith should not fail;
Lu 22:34-38. and yet he should deny him thrice.
Lu 22:39-46. He prays in the mount, and sweats blood;
Lu 22:47-49. is betrayed with a kiss;
Lu 22:50-53. he heals Malchus’ ear;
Lu 22:54-62. he is thrice denied of Peter;
Lu 22:63-65. shamefully abused;
Lu 22:66-71. and confesses himself to be the Son of God.
Luke chapter 23
Lu 23:1-7. Jesus is accused before Pilate, and sent to Herod.
Lu 23:8-11. Herod mocks him.
Lu 23:12. Herod and Pilate are made friends.
Lu 23:13-25. Barabbas is desired of the people, and is loosed by Pilate, and Jesus is given to be crucified.
Lu 23:26-33. He tells the women, that lament him, the destruction of Jerusalem;
Lu 23:34-38. prays for his enemies.
Lu 23:39-45. Two evildoers are crucified with him.
Lu 23:46-49. His death.
Lu 23:50-56. His burial.
Luke chapter 24
Lu 24:1-8. Christ’s resurrection is declared by two angels to the women that come to the sepulchre.
Lu 24:9-12. These report it to others.
Lu 24:13-35. Christ himself appears to the two disciples that went to Emmaus;
Lu 24:36-46. afterwards he appears to the apostles, and reproves their unbelief;
Lu 24:47-48. gives them a charge;
Lu 24:49. promises the Holy Ghost;
Lu 24:50-53. and so ascends into heaven.
